This Colburn Celebrity Series Recital features an evening of renowned soloists and ensembles at Walt Disney Concert Hall in an exciting conclusion to the Piatigorsky International Cello Festival. Jean-Guihen Queyras with pianist Juho Pohjonen will perform the Franck Sonata; Camille Thomas with pianist Bernadene Blaha will perform the Debussy Sonata and Milhaud’s Braziliera; Narek Hakhnazaryan with pianist Kevin Fitz-Gerald will perform Faure’s Elegy and Paganini’s Variations on the G String; SAKURA will give a world premiere performance of Donald Crockett’s new work for cello quintet commissioned by New Music USA followed by Debussy’s The Girl with The Flaxen Hair; and the Mass Cello Ensemble with conductor Hilo Carriel and soprano Sarah Shafer will perform Villa-Lobos’ Bachianas Brasilieras No. 5 and the Bach Air.
